Half Marathon

Every year the Alderney Half Marathon and 10km run takes place. The next race is on 4 September 2010.

Although just 3.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, Alderney has mapped out a scenic course which takes the runners on a coastal tour of the island while enjoying breathtaking views of beaches, historic landmarks, numerous Victorian forts and beautiful beaches. Starting from the Alderney Tennis Club the 10 km race goes once round the island, and Half Marathon competitors make a second circuit.

There is a generous goody bag  and a free sandwich lunch afterwards for all finishers at the prize giving. There are many trophies and prizes, making this a very popular and well supported race.

According to those who come back here year after year, “It’s a great way of seeing the island while trying to break a new record. The scenery is magnificent and everything is so friendly and open”.

Organised by the Alderney Road Runners, this race gets more popular every year.
