(Public Holiday in Alderney)
To commemorate 72 years since the return of the first group of Islanders to Alderney after WWII, following the mass evacuation of 1940. This year the following events and services will take place for Homecomers and Alderney’s residents and visitors.
1000 – Ceremony at the Homecoming Memorial Stone at the Harbour
1100 – Special Ecumenical Homecoming Church Service at St Anne’s Church
1145 – Prayer from Rev Tim Barker at the Evacuation Plaque at the Court House
1200 – Vin D’Honneur at the Island Hall for Homecomers and invited guests (not open to public)
1400 – Music Concert in the Island Hall (doors open 1330hrs)
