2 – 4 April 2015
Visit the sites of some of the most interesting and best preserved German defences in Alderney and the wider Channel Islands, offering a remarkable insight into the fortification of the island.
The daily tours will view the conservation work being carried out by volunteers and States Works staff, and the design and construction of the various bunkers will be explained. There’s a chance to participate (no charge) in the work on site, clearing out the heavily fortified concrete structures that formerly housed searchlights, anti-tank guns and machine guns. Find out what life was like for the occupying troops. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.
