The Old Tea Room is a characterful Town House at 28 High Street, Alderney in the Channel Islands. Since 2012 it is has been our family home on the island, but now we are hoping to share it with others as a self-catering holiday home for up to five people and a well-behaved dog!

The house has a long and fascinating history, first built way back in the 1700s and over the intervening years has been a home to many islanders, was occupied by German officers during WWII and became a Tea Room during the 1950s. In fact it is an extremely quirky and interesting building, with very few straight lines. The house is set out over three floors with the kitchen being located on the ground floor in a former German bunker. As a result we would not recommend our home to anyone who has mobility issues or to families with children under eight years as there are steps and the stairs are narrow and winding. The Old Tea Room is the house for you if you like a cosy, homely atmosphere and quirky features.

The Old Tea room is a non-smoking self-catering house, fully equipped to accommodate up to 5 guests.

We provide ample quality bedding, together with hand and bath towels and bath mats for use during your stay.

The kitchen is equipped with everything you should need for your stay, including crockery, glassware, cutlery, pots, pans, ovenware, baking tins, serving dishes, mixing bowls, weighing scale, chopping boards, table mats, coasters, plus the essential electrical items such as a kettle and a toaster.  We have a gas oven, and grill, plus microwave and cafetiere, fridge, freezer and dishwasher.

The Old Tea Room has a smart digital TV in the sitting room, capable to linking up with BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services should you have an account.  There is a built in DVD player in the TV and a Sky Box, which provides freeview channels.

Stored within the Living Area are a selection of books, games, DVD’s and CD’s.

The Utility Room is equipped with washing machine, clothes airer, laundry basket and pegs for a washing line in the garden. There is also an iron & ironing board, vacuum, mop and bucket.

WI-FI Internet Access is available at the property
