A lecture by Dr Jason Monaghan, Director of Guernsey Museums Island Hall, Thursday 9th April at 7pm
Jason Monaghan has led several archaeological investigations at the site of Alderney’s Roman fort, known locally as “The Nunnery”. He is an expert on the Roman period in the Channel Islands, and also has responsibility for conserving and displaying the Roman ship, “The Asterix” found in the harbour of St Peter Port. Jason will give a fascinating talk on the impact of the Romans in both Alderney and Guernsey at the beginning of the last millennium.
