Alderney does not need an extensive transport network but it does have an excellent taxi service and car hire is available from both Braye Car Hire and Automotion.

Many visitors prefer to explore this tiny Channel Island on foot or with bicycles. It is also fun to take a ride on Alderney’s famous train which runs to Mannez lighthouse.

If you enjoy learning as you walk, you can join one of the many interesting guided walks – ranging from town walks, history, heritage and bird watching tours to nocturnal bat walks – which are organised by the Alderney Wildlife Trust in co-operation with Living Islands and the Alderney Society. (The schedule for these is dependent upon demand so please call 01481 822935 for details).

A further way to explore Alderney on foot is with one of our walking maps. Alternatively, just ask around and you are sure to find someone who will recommend their personal favourite routes.
