Our compact island makes beach-hopping wonderfully easy. A short walk, bike ride or drive is all it takes to swap one stretch of coastline for another, with each bay offering its own character, scenery and way to spend a summer's day.

1. Start the day at Braye Bay
There's no better place to ease yourself into the day than Braye Bay. Sheltered by the island's impressive Victorian breakwater, the bay offers calm waters that are perfect for a morning swim.
Popular with families, Braye Bay has a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to spend a few hours by the sea. Watch the yachts come and go from the harbour, build sandcastles on the beach or simply enjoy watching the world drift by. There's no rush here, and that's exactly the point.
Before heading to your next bay, stop at one of the nearby cafés overlooking the harbour for breakfast or a fresh coffee. You'll want to fuel up, there's still plenty of coastline left to discover.
2. Relax on the white sands of Saye Beach
Just a short journey away, Saye Beach feels like you've stumbled across one of Alderney's best kept secrets.
Its soft white sand and crystal clear turquoise water create an almost tropical feel on a warm summer's day. It's the sort of beach that encourages you to slow down, stretch out your towel and lose track of time with a good book.
Whether you fancy a refreshing swim or simply soaking up the sunshine, Saye Beach is made for unhurried summer afternoons. There's usually plenty of space too, making it easy to find your own peaceful corner.
3. Find adventure at Corblets Bay
Ready to swap relaxation for a little excitement? Corblets Bay is just around the corner.
When conditions are right, it's Alderney's favourite beach for bodyboarding, surfing and jumping through the waves. Families will also find plenty to keep everyone entertained, from exploring rock pools to searching for shells and fascinating sea creatures revealed by the tide.
As with any beach, it's worth checking the tide times and conditions before heading into the water. Then all that's left to do is embrace your adventurous side.
4. Discover history at Longis Bay
One of the joys of beach hopping in Alderney is that you're never far from your next stop. Just 10 minutes by bike or around 20 minutes on foot from Corblets Bay, Longis Bay offers a completely different side of the island.
More than just a beautiful stretch of sand, it's a place where history, wildlife and coastal scenery come together.
Take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline and you'll discover layers of Alderney's remarkable history. Overlooking the bay is the Roman Fort, one of the best preserved forts from the Roman era in Western Europe, while reminders of the island's wartime past can also be found nearby.
Between exploring historic landmarks, enjoy a spot of beachcombing, wander the coastal paths or simply take in the peaceful surroundings. It's a wonderful reminder that some of Alderney's greatest treasures aren't always found in the sea.
5. End the day at Clonque Bay
As the day draws to a close, make your way west to Clonque Bay for a memorable finale.
This rugged corner of Alderney is one of the island's most dramatic coastal locations. The iconic Fort Clonque stands proudly offshore, connected by its famous causeway, while the rocky coastline provides the perfect backdrop as the day draws to a close.
Find a comfortable spot, watch the sky turn shades of gold, orange and pink, and enjoy one of those moments that reminds you why slowing down is sometimes the best part of any holiday.
