The Island is warrened with interesting footpaths and trails to explore, wild, rabbity commons to investigate and wide beaches to sprint across, and it offers a range of comfortable, dog-friendly pubs, restaurants and accommodations to eat, sleep and unwind in.
How to travel with a dog?
Aurigny Air Services will accept dogs on their inter-island and UK flights to Alderney. (https://www.aurigny.com/news/post/pet-friendly-flying).
Alderney Ferry Services accepts dogs on their inter-island ferry free of charge.

Where to stay with your dog?
The Braye Beach Hotel and The Blonde Hedgehog both welcome guests with dogs, along with St Anne’s Guesthouse, The Victoria and La Ville Hotel.
There is also a selection of self-catering properties that allow dogs to stay. These are:
- 4 Braye View Meadows (6 guests)
- Barlew Twist (6 guests)
- The Old Corner House (6 guests)
- Les Pourciaux Cottage (4 guests)
- The Old Tea Room (5 guests)
Well-behaved dogs are also welcome at Saye Campsite but must be kept on leads.

Cantina Number 6 – on the balcony, or the dog can stay on the balcony whilst the owners eat inside

The Old Barn - outside and on the inside table reserved for dogs
The Marais Hall – in the bar
Saye Campsite Café - must be kept on leads
Where Can I Walk & Swim with My Dog?
Alderney is a fantastic island to explore with your four-legged friend, with miles of scenic paths, open commons and dog-friendly beaches to enjoy.
Walking with Your Dog
Dogs are welcome on:
All public footpaths around the island.
All commons.
Most rocky coves and bays throughout the year.
Dog-Friendly Beaches
The following beaches are open to dogs all year round:
Clonque Bay
Platte Saline
Cat's Bay and other rocky bays
Seasonal Beach Restrictions
To help everyone enjoy Alderney's sandy beaches during the busiest months, dogs are not permitted on the following beaches from 1 June to 15 September each year:
Braye Beach
Saye Beach
Arch Bay
Corblets Beach
Longis Beach
Between 1 June and 15 September dogs are welcome before 8:00am and after 5:00pm each day during this period.
Please Help Keep Alderney Beautiful
There are 32 dog waste bins located around the island, provided and emptied by the States of Alderney. You can find their locations on our map here. Please help keep the island clean by always picking up after your dog and using these bins.
Be Considerate
While Alderney is a very dog-friendly island, not everyone is comfortable around dogs. Please keep your dog under control at all times and use a lead when passing other walkers, cyclists or dogs, especially in busy areas.
